FIRST Robotics is an international high school robotics competition, in which A.W. Beattie competes as Team 2051.
The career center won its first ever tournament championship August 3, 2019 at the Steel City Showdown. The tournament included 22 teams from four states.
A.W. Beattie's Ben Marcouiller competed in April at the World Championships in Detroit for the opportunity to earn a full college scholarship. The career center's March 2019 competition was against 44 other teams at the California University of Pennsylvania where Marcouiller earned the Dean’s List Award, which is given to about 200 students worldwide out of more than 50,000 eligible participants.
A.W. Beattie's team took home the Industrial Design Award, the first time it earned the award in 13 years of FIRST Robotics competition. A.W. Beattie, which sent 17 students to the competition, beat out 44 other schools for the award.
We look forward to competing in the 2021-2022 school year after competitions were unable to take place in the 2020-2021 school year!
