A.W. Beattie Career Center has always considered the safety of students, staff and visitors paramount to our campus. In this regard, we have instituted several revisions based on best practice research. The Joint Operating Committee has authorized the administration through various policies and Administrator Guidelines to implement notifications and procedures regarding campus safety.

- A visitor upon being granted access to the Career Center through the front secure entrance will be directed to the main office.
- The main office staff will request your driver’s license that will be scanned through our Raptor security screening software. No one will be admitted beyond the school office without a proper clearance from the Raptor System. The administration will have the final authority over this action.
- Public visitors to our Student Training Salon and Culinary Restaurant will not be granted access to any other parts of the Career Center.
Threat Assessment - Policy #236.1
Protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the A.W. Beattie Career Center students and staff is a top priority. The Career Center’s Threat Assessment Team is committed to assessing and addressing student behavior that may indicate a threat to the safety of the student, other students, school employees, school facilities, the community and others.
The Threat Assessment Team is composed of the School Safety and Security Coordinator and individuals with expertise in school health; counseling; school administration; law enforcement; and members of the Safe2Say Something crisis team.
If you are aware of a threat to the safety and security of our students or staff, please reach out to the school principal directly, or report the threat to Safe2Say.
All families please review the policy guidelines and the information within the student handbook that was sent home. Please remember that tools and equipment that could be considered a weapon may not be transported on a school bus.
ACT 44 of 2025 – Weapons Notifications
Effective January 5, 2026, ACT 44 of 2025 will be a requirement for all schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The legislation requires all school entities to notify parents/guardians and school staff within 24 hours if a weapon is discovered on school property, at a school sponsored event or on school transportation.
A.W. Beattie Career Center addresses and defines weapons in the Student Handbook and Joint Operating Committee Policy 218.1 Weapons. These two documents are approved by the Joint Operating Committee (JOC).
