Dear Families,

ACT 44 of 2025 – Weapons Notifications

Effective January 5, 2026, ACT 44 of 2025 will be a requirement for all schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The legislation requires all school entities to notify parents/guardians and school staff within 24 hours if a weapon is discovered on school property, at a school sponsored event or on school transportation.

A.W. Beattie Career Center addresses and defines weapons in the Student Handbook and Joint Operating Committee Policy 218.1 Weapons. These two documents are approved by the Joint Operating Committee (JOC).
