REVISED Hybrid Instructional Schedule

On Thursday, March 25th the A.W. Beattie Career Center Joint Operating Committee approved the following revised hybrid instructional schedule for the remainder of the 2020 – 2021 school year.  The Career Center will continue to maintain social distancing within the instructional CTE programs as possible.  Students and staff will continue to wear face masks/face shields.

A.W. Beattie’s instructional schedule provides the following:

  • Permits students to participate in-person four days per week or remotely five days per week.
  • Allows for the value of our hands-on learning to expand.
  • Provides families with choices.

The Career Center will operate under this revised hybrid instructional schedule for the remainder of the 2020 – 2021 school year following one of the two attendance options.

Student Attendance Option #1

Monday - Tuesday

All students in attendance
following normal schedules.

Remote Distance Learning
All Students

Thursday - Friday

All students in attendance
following normal schedules.

On Wednesdays, students will be required to log into their program area through the established Microsoft Teams Link at the assigned time for direct instruction, recorded instruction, or remote learning activities as assigned by the program instructor. Students will have to participate in the assigned learning activities of the day to be earn their daily grade points.

Student Attendance Option #2

Full Remote Distance Learning – Five Days per Week

Students will be required to log into their program area through the established Microsoft TEAMS link at the assigned time each day for direct, recorded, or remote learning activities as assigned by the program instructor. Students will have to participate in the assigned learning activities of the day to earn their daily grade points.

Selection of Student Options:

Families that need to modify their previous selection for curriculum instruction are asked to contact Mrs. Holzworth at thea.holzworth@beattietech.com or 412-847-1909.

Students Under Quarantine/Isolation Orders:

Students/families that may be under quarantine or isolation guidelines will be able to participate in Full Remote Distance Learning during the documented quarantine/isolation order.

Student Attendance:

Daily student attendance will be maintained.  Attendance will be recorded daily in Skyward for In-Person Attendance or Remote Distance Learning days.

Please submit excuses for absences from In-Person Learning or Remote Distance Learning days within 24 hours to studentexcuse@beattietech.com.  Please include the parent/guardian name and phone number for verification.  You may also submit excuses for absences in the front office to Mrs. Susan Hughes, Administrative Assistant.

Mitigation and New Mandates

The career center will follow recent mitigation efforts issued by the state’s new mandated guidance. The career center will follow the protocol set forth by the state for a medium size school of 500-900 students. Please reference the chart table below from the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

COVID-19 Communication

A.W. Beattie Career Center will continue to utilize our website, social media and email notification system to inform parents, students and staff of all pertinent information regarding COVID-19 at the career center. Visit www.beattietech.com for the most up to date information.

Please notify the career center directly regarding positive COVID-19 test results, quarantine notifications or other pertinent COVID-19 information to Thea Holzworth, Assistant Principal at thea.holzworth@beattietech.com or 412-847-1909.

Attendance

Students should follow directions from their teacher on signing into their remote classes for attendance. Attendance will be recorded daily in Skyward for remote lessons and in-person classes. Please visit the Skyward Family Portal to access your son/daughter’s attendance and grades.

Please submit excuses for absences from remote distance learning and/or in-person classes within 24hrs of an absence to studentexcuse@beattietech.com. Please include the parent/guardian name and phone number for verification. You may also submit excuses for absences in the front office to Susan Hughes, Administrative Assistant.

Health and Safety

All career center students and staff are reminded to follow CDC health and safety guidelines at all times; wear a mask, keep your distance and if you are sick, please stay home.

Travel and Quarantine

Under the revised travel guidelines issued by the Governor, students and staff are no longer required to quarantine for out-of-state travel.
