Congratulations to Deer Lakes School District senior Eleesa Sappe for being named A.W. Beattie's Senior of the Year in the Health and Nursing Sciences program.
Eleesa will continue her education at Pitt - Johnstown where she will pursue a career as a doctor.
"I want to be a doctor, because I love this field," Eleesa said. "I figure if I love it this much, why not take it as far as I can? It’s not about money or anything like that. I just love it. I'm glad my dad suggested I go to Beattie to see if this would be something I’d want to do later in my life, and I ended up enjoying it."
Health and Nursing Sciences instructor Joan Fazio praised Eleesa's work at A.W. Beattie.
"She’s intelligent, dependable, has excellent attendance and is always on task." Mrs. Fazio said. "I believe in her, because she can do everything. She’s a high school senior who has a job, takes Advanced Placement courses at her home school, and she wants to be a doctor. A lot of people have the book knowledge, but she also has a lot of empathy for other people, which is the most important qualification of a doctor."
