--------------------------------------------------------------Our Mission

A.W. Beattie Career Center is a vocational school that provides quality education in several technical fields. Although these classes are usually seperate, the FIRST Competition helps bring all the vocational classes together for this competition. Automotive Body Repair, Computer Tech, Oracle Internet Academy, Commercial Arts, Robotics, Cisco, Heating Air Conditionding and Ventilation, and the Academics Science and English classes are all taking part in the FIRST Robotics competition.

--------------------------------------------------------------What We Do

The Beattie Robotics, Oracle, Cisco, Commercial Art, Auto Body, and HVAC programs will be participating in a challenging competition sponsored by a group called FIRST- For Inspiration Recognition of Science and Technology. FIRST is a program with a goal- to involve students in science, technology and engineering. Beattie received an informational video which explains the contest. Their objective is to build a robot that can navigate a race track while attempting to toss a 40" diameter ball over a 6.5' bar. An Alliance of three teams will have two minutes to maximize the amount of points. Teams will receive points for crossing the finish line with the robot, the ball crossing the finish line, or throwing the ball over the bar. Teams will receive points for their robot crossing the finish line, the ball crossing the finish line, and throwing the ball over the bar
