2011 SUMMER CAMPS!

INFORMATION: A.W. Beattie Career Center is proud to offer several Summer Camps to interested students who are preparing to attend grades 7 through 9 for the 2011 - 2012 school year.

All camps will take place June 20 - 24, 2011 at A.W. Beattie Career Center and will cost $80.00 per camper. Campers are required to fill out an application complete with insurance/emergency contact information. All applications and payments are due to the school immediately upon registration. A minimum of 10 campers are required to run a camp. If a camp is canceled, campers will be notified and all payments will be refunded. Checks should be made payable to A.W. Beattie Career Center.

All camp drop-offs are from 8:30am - 9:00am. Camp pick-up is 3:00pm Monday through Thursday and 12:00pm on Friday.

Any necessary safety instruction is included in the first day of camp.

    INTRO TO AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY - JUNE 20 - 24, 2011

    INFORMATION: A.W. Beattie Career Center and the Automotive Technology program are proud to announce the first-ever Introduction to Automotive Technology Camp!

    Throughout the course of one week, students will learn introductory automotive skills, including: tire/wheel service, oil and coolant service, automatic transmission service, and much more!

    Tool and Equipment Safety will be covered the first day.

    Campers will learn about:

    • Belt and Battery Service
    • Coolant Service
    • Automatic Transmission Service
    • Tire Repair
    • Oil Change Service

    CULINARY ARTS JUNIOR COOKS CAMP - JUNE 20 - 24, 2011

    INFORMATION: A.W. Beattie Career Center and the Culinary Arts program are proud to announce the first-ever Junior Cooks Camp!

    This camp will cover the fundamentals of Culinary Arts throughout the week. Learn the basics from certified Chefs and Pastry Chefs at one of the most advanced high school Culinary Arts programs in Pennsylvania! Students will work through a series of kitchen projects and treat their parents/guardians to a delicious meal at the end of the week!

    A professional Chef's uniform will be included in the cost of tuition.

    ROBOCAMP - JUNE 20 - 24, 2011

    INFORMATION: A.W. Beattie Career Center, in conjunction with Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Academy, is proud to announce RoboCamp.

    During the week, interested incoming seventh, eighth, and ninth graders are invited to join Agile Robotics/Intelligent Systems-trained staff at A.W. Beattie Career Center for a fun and exciting adventure with engineering and robotics.

    Campers will learn about:

    • Working Together as a Team
    • Time Management
    • VEX Robot Building
    • VEX Software Programming
    • Gears and Gear Ratios
    • Use of Sensors

    • Public Speaking

    The week will conclude with a Final Competition and Graduation Ceremony.
