CARPENTRY/BUILDING CONSTRUCTION

PROGRAM INFORMATION: Students entering the Carpentry/Building Construction program will receive classroom and hands-on training in the safe use of hand and power tools, blueprint reading, computer-aided drafting (CAD), floor, wall, and roof framing, interior and exterior finishing including: insulation, drywall, siding, and roofing. In this PBA (Pennsylvania Builders Association) endorsed program, masonry, plumbing, and residential wiring are also included for advanced students. SkillsUSA and BAMP (Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh) activities and competitions, as well as community projects, challenge the students during the year, preparing them for immediate employment. Students also have the opportunity to experience live work by taking part in the on-going project of building a modular home.
